Condition
Colours:
The colours in the catalogue are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the overall tonality is brighter and more vibrant in the original. The blues on the left side of the composition are brighter, tending more towards varying shades of electric blue, and the purples on the right side tends more to lilac in the original.
Condition:
The work is in very good condition. There are two very light stretcher bar marks running horizontally across the mid-section of the upper half and to the mid-section of the lower half. There are a number of isolated fine, stable and unobtrusive hairline cracks in places to the composition.
There are a few pinhead sized media accretions scattered throughout the central part of the composition and a few tiny fly spots concentrated to the lowest lilac square and around the top part of the blue rectangle. There are two extremely faint watermarks: one to the left side of the top of the purple section, another to the top right part of the lower right quadrant and a tiny protrusion to the canvas surface towards the bottom of the left extreme edge, all of which are visible only upon close inspection only. No restoration is apparent under ulatrviolet light.
There are two very short light rub marks (each approx 3cm) to each of the lower extreme corners and a small spot of paint loss is visible upon very close inspection to the right of the vertical purple square to the lower part of the top right quadrant.
