Colours:
The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the overall tonailty is brighter and more vibrant, with the red tending more towards crimson red in the original.
Condition:
The work is screwed securely to the backing board in two places: to the centre of the top stretcher bar and to the centre of the lower stretcher bar. Each corner is very slightly rubbed and there are a few tiny specks of media accretion to the lower right corner and a single pinhead-sized media accretion to the lower left corner. There are three very fine vertical hairline cracks to the centre of the right extreme overturn edge. A small spot of uneven pigment to the centre of the left extreme overturn edge fluoreces very slightly, possibly indicating an old retouching.
