the body of ovoid form rising from a flat base to a tall waisted neck, incised to the front with an apocryphal Huan Long yi nian date and to the back with a three line calligraphic inscription divided by a tall dragon-headed handle to one side and a short curved spout issuing from a dragon mask to the other, covered overall in a transparent ivory glaze infused with a light crackle

Catalogue Note

The inscription Huan Long yi nian may be translated as the 'first year of the reign of the Huan Long Emperor', corresponding to 229AD, during the Three Kingdoms Period.
