Condition

Colours slightly fresher in reality but overall impression given by photograph quite true. Nice old 'granular' Heriz weave; pile generally approx ½ inch in depth, with glossy silk. Ends and sides re-inforced with woven tape stitched to reverse, sides reselvedged; lower end slightly reduced and with warp fringes, upper end with intermittent partial fringing. Several fabric patches on reverse, re-inforcing areas of carpet with loose warps and old splits, primarily in upper quarter of carpet; other splits along central vertical axis. Beautifully drawn and coloured, but would benefit from careful conservation.
