Description

  • approximately 17ft. 5in. by 12ft. 10in. (5.31 by 3.91m.)

Condition

Colours have slightly more definition and contrast in reality. Pile overall closely sheared, approx. 1/12th inch with areas of ward to knotheads scattered throughout and some wear to foundation in upper right hand quadrant; several small splits in field and along sides into blue surround; sections of side cords are loose, or unravelled; fringes trimmed and ends overlocked; carpet would benefit from some restorations to splits before use. Design is based upon that of the 'Ardebil' Safavid carpets in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and the L A County Museum.
