Description

  • An Agra carpet
  • approximately 16ft. 3in. by 11ft. 10in. (4.95 by 3.61m.)

Condition

Colour: slightly less contrast between colour of field and the motifs in reality. Dense, lustrous pile, varying in depth from circa 1/8th inc to areas with some wear; scattered spot foundation visible, principally on a vertical axis through the centre of the left-hand-side motifs. Wit some localised spot tinting of warps; some oxidisation to warps of crimson pile, with spot tinting; yellow surround slightly reduced, sides overcast and ends secured. A really elegant carpet, beautifully drawn with very good balance of scale between border and field and a very unusual and subtle range and combination of colours.
