bidding is closed

Description

  • A Shirvan long rug
  • approximately 9ft. 6in. by 4ft. 1in. (2.90 by 1.24m.)

Condition

Pile generally near original closely sheared 1/8 inch with dark browns oxidized to knotheads; some scattered areas of minor foldwear, mostly in upper end of rug. An approximate 3 by 1/2 inch vertical reweave on lower end edge, and some small 1/2 - 1 inch slits in lower end guard border---not serious, just need sewing together. Original 2 cord white cotton selvages with some losses into brown outer guard stripes and some later overcasting. Lower end: original kilim end finish, approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Upper end: remnants of kilim end. Appears dusty---would enhance with cleaning. Supple handle, good overall condition.
