Catalogue Note

In this piece the design is composed of pairs of rams within beaded roundels.  This beaded or 'pearl' roundel is found in many of these early textiles, such as figs. 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 in Feng, Zhao, "Silk Roundels from the Sui to the Tang," Hali, issue 92, pp. 80-85.
