Catalogue Note

A drawing of this same subject, formerly in Richard Payne Knight's collection and now in the British Museum (1900-4-11-13), is dated 26th August 1776. This watercolour was probably drawn at the behest of Payne Knight during Cozen's stay in Italy between 1776 and 1779.
