Condition
Overall the work is in excellent condition. The medium is strong and fresh. Occasionally the bodycolour has suffered very minor cracking. However in general the work has been well preserved.

Catalogue Note
Lady Catherine Powlett (1766–1807), was the daughter of the 6th Duke of Bolton. On comparison to Sir Joshua Reynolds’ portrait of Lady Catherine Powlett, 1777 (Private Collection, Raby Castle, Durham), this portrait appears to have been painted when the sitter was aged 10 or 11 years old, c. 1777.
