Condition
Original canvas. There are stretcher marks visible through the centre and across the upper border. There are scattered patches of craquelure and the paint along the upper borders and flaked due to concentrated craquelure. Also some small spots of paint loss along the lower border. The painting is covered in a thick discoloured varnish and would benefit from a clean. Ultraviolet light reveals the suggestion of a couple of minor spots of retouching although the heavy varnish prevents a conclusive examination. Held in a decorative plaster gilt frame with some losses to the moulding.
