Condition
The canvas has been lined. There is minor paint flaking to the sitter's face some of which is slightly unstable. There is some minor paint shrinkage to some areas on the sitters face and hand. There are some very minor repairs to the left of the sitter and towards the upper right edge. There is a very minor dent to the centre right of the sitter. There is some paint separation in the lower half of the painting. There is light craquelure to the paint surface in places. Otherwise in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals some minor retouching to the background and to the sitter's face and elsewhere. Held in a decorative gold painted from in fair condition.
