The canvas has been laid onto a board. There are a few minor spots of abrasion to the left of the lower extreme edge. The canvas appears to have been cleaned at some point as the paint surface is slightly uneven throughout, with passages of thin paint where the canvas weave is visible. There are two patches of varnish to the right and left sections of sky which have discoloured, leaving a brownish tidemark around the edges of the patches. There are a few fine lines of light craquelure to the sky and to the top of the arch, with a few other patches of craquelure to parts of the foreground. Otherwise the work is in good condition and is ready to hang. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals sn uneven varnish throughout which may mask a few minor retouchings beneath. There appears to be some minor retouchings to the foreground. Held in a decorative gold painted frame in fair condition, with canvas inlay.
