Condition
The canvas has been relined. There are patches of craquelure throughout the painting and some areas of paint lifting resulting in a number of scattered chips to the paint, particularly in the central sky and foreground. Discoloured varnish throughout. Ultraviolet light reveals spots of retouching to the figures and considerable patches of retouching throughout the sky. Held in a decorative plaster gilt frame.
