Description

  • William Owen R.A.
  • Portrait of a lady
  • oil on canvas
  • 74x62cm.; 29x24½in.
Half length, wearing a white dress

Condition

The work would appear to be in generally good condition. The canvas has been lined. There is a speck of paint loss along the left vertical edge, which would be easily remedied. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals some retouching to the edges of the canvas where an old frame may have rubbed. There is evidence of some infilling to lines of craquelure in the sitter's chest and face. Held in a composite wood frame.
