Condition

Original canvas. There is a tear to the canvas (approx 20cm), centre right, and patches of resultant paint loss to the surrounding area. There is some craquelure to the sky and a patch of paint separation to the yellow ochre pigment to the left of the central horse. There are two further spots of paint loss to the centre. Ultra violet light reveals no sign of retouching. Held under glass in a heavy decorative gold painted frame.
