Catalogue Note
Leftwich Hall in Cheshire was the Leftwich family seat until 1616 when it was passed out of the family through Elizabeth Leftwich who married William Oldfield. The Hall remained in the Oldfield family for approximately 150 years but was allowed to fall into decay, eventually being demolished circa 1820. The Leftwich family eventually spread across America, notably into the southern states; Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee, as well as Texas.
