  • Height 19 1/2 in, each approx.
de forme tambour (ou tonneau), chacun reposant sur quatre pieds, l'assise circulaire en marbre veiné blanc et noir en "pierre de rêve", bande "cloutée" autour de l'assise et de la base, sculpté en ouverture avec des médaillons quadrilobés

Une paire similaire plus trapue conservée au Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art est illustrée dans R.H.Ellsworth, Chinese Furniture, New York, 1970, pp. 194 et 259, cat. no 101; également, Gustav Ecke, Chinese Domestic Furniture, p. 141, pl. 112.

Condition

On one: restoration on the wood rim of the marble top (different colour) (3.5 x 3cm.); some glue residue in the inside of the X-form braces; one wood section at bottom is not well fixed; a vertical crack in the inside on one foot; an horizontal crack in the inside on another foot. On the other: light vertical crack on one foot; horizontal wood at bottom not well fixed (one side is coming out); note some glue and newspaper at base of two feet. On both: the four sections of wood on the rim on top don't have the same colours. Glue residue in the inside around marble top. Otherwise, in good condition.
