Description

  • Diam. 5 3/4 in

Literature

Un bitong plus tardif d'époque Kangxi (1662-1722) mais montrant le même sujet est illustré dans Blue and White Porcelain with Underglawed Red (III), The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 2001, p. 58, pl. 50.

Condition

Note some scratches on the glaze all around; also, some small glaze frits: one at bottom (0.3cm approx), one on the mouth rim (0.3cm) and two on white ground in bamboo grove (0.3cm., each approx.). Small chips on the foot rim. The base is unglazed. The colour is more blue (than purple) than shown in the catalogue illustration; the bitong blue enamel is a little lighter. Overall in good condition.
