Description

  • Height 9 3/8 in
très finement travaillé, représenté assis les pieds se croisant, sur un socle surélevé rectangulaire avec des lotus à chaque coin, deux lionceaux parmi des rinceaux dans le rôle de cariatides soutenant la plateforme sur laquelle est assis le personnage, légèrement incliné vers l'arrière, les mains jointes au niveau du buste, portant un diadème à cinq feuilles, attaché à l'arrière par des rubans dont les extrémités se soulèvent au niveau des oreilles percées, les cheveux en chignon élevé tenu par un ruban, laissant tomber quelques mèches sur chaque épaule, vêtu d'un habit volumineux avec plusieurs épaisseurs enrobant l'ensemble du corps, avec des épaulettes, portant des colliers, pigments bleu sur les cheveux, inscription tibétaine au dos de la base

Condition

Some gilt losses on the face (right of top forehead, right eyebrow, right and left around nose, around mouth). The face and neck seems to have been re-gilt at one point Blue pigment residue on hair, part of neck, right side of face of king, hair of animal on base. Red pigment residue on lips, eyes, final on lotus bud at corner of base and diadem. White pigment residue on eyes. Traces of burnt at bottom right of base (as seen in the catalogue illustration). White and turquoise blue pigments residue on base and clothes: robe and shoes. Light recess on the back of the cloth hanging on the base. On the gilt bronze base, there is stylised double vajra in a circular medallion in the center. Light recess on the base (may have been opened at some point).

L'inscription en tibétain lit : you si wu zhang na kong xing zi zai gong que bang  (rang no 6, Roi Dharma indien, bonheur, gloire, vertue, prospérité). Ce type d'objet venait en série, chacun était numéroté.
