of deep rounded form on a low foot, decorated in brown on a cream slip ground with a band of bold kufic below the rim

‘Blessing and Grace (of God) to its owner’
This is a rare shape to find in this sort of slip-painted pottery. A bowl of similar shape, categorised by Wilkinson as 'black on white' ware was excavated at Nishapur (see Wilkinson 1973, p.105, no.62).
