the straight European back-edged watered-steel blade incised at the forte with solar and lunar motifs, the hilt of stylised dragon-head form inlaid with tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl plaques, angular silver knuckle bow and down-turned quillons engraved with chevrons, the velvet-covered wood scabbard with silver repoussé mounts decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves
