Description
of shallow form with flattened everted rim on a short foot, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze lustre with a central medallion with a bird watching a fish in a pool and foliage beyond, the cavetto with a scrolling band, the rim with a further band of stylised leaves, the back with a band of stiff leaves and a saw-tooth design at the rim, reverse with various labels and a seal impression in red wax

Catalogue Note
This is an unusual example of a lustre dish from the Ilkhanid period at a time when production was concentrated on tilework. Indeed similar designs can be found on late-13th/early-14th century tiles, see for instance an example in the Keir Collection (Grube 1976, p.251, no.191).
