  • A 'Mohtashem' Kashan carpet
  • approximately 423 by 334cm., 13ft. 11in. by 11ft.

Condition

Partial original flatweave at each end, losses to fringes, some losses to original sidecords with cording visible. Pile varies from 3-4mm in lower third of field, adjacent borders and upper border to approximately 2mm in upper quarter of field and with wear to knotbars through central portion of field with some spot foundation visible in central dark-blue flowerhead and medallion. Some snagging of pile in borders (Cat?); some surface dirt and would benefit from a clean. Flexible handle, attractive colouring and drawing, good proportions.
