original flatwoven upper end, turned under and stitched down, lower end fringe trimmed, flatwoven end turned under, stitched down and overlaid with ivory and brown wool, plaited braid (original?); side cords reovercast, pile generally 4mm approx, dark brown deeply oxidised, particularly in elem some very minor moth in border, scattered small reweaves in borders and elem not noticeable from face of rug, lighter (bleached) splash area in lower right hand corner visible in illustration, fine weave, flexible handle, glossy wool
