Description

  • A silk samite fragment
  • approximately 31cm by 25cm., 1ft. 2in. by 10in., irregularly shaped
in weft-faced polychrome compound twill, in natural ivory (darkened) and light walnut, with a repeating design of a pearl roundel enclosing a stag, the minor motifs of a stylised vase issuing fruiting grape vines centred by a palmette
