the wood body of rectangular form with hinged vaulted cover, drop loop handles to sides and scroll lock plate with knop handle to front, the exterior decorated throughout with painted polychrome panels of bouquets, garlands and C-scrolls bordered by minor scrolling foliate bands, the painted orange interior with tughra of Mahmud II and the date of A.H. 1253/ A.D.1837

in good condition, minor areas of cracquelure to painted exterior, loss to righthand edge of lock plate, as viewed
