of tall waisted form on a thick broad foot, with narrow shoulder, short cylindrical neck and everted rim, decorated over a cobalt blue glaze with leaves and palmettes in copper lustre

Catalogue Note
A number of jars with comparable form and decoration are known, including examples in the Victoria and Albert Museum (Ray 2000, nos.168-169, and 195-196, colour plates 18 and 24), and others in the Cloisters Collection, New York, the Museo Capodimonte, Naples, the Instituto Valencia de Don Juan and the British Museum. Ray notes "a distinctive feature is the way in which the stalks of the ribbon-flowers curl over a vertical line to form lustred shapes." (ibid. p.80.).
