of rectangular form with hinged coffered lid on raised feet, engraved and inlaid in silver with roundels enclosing seated musicians on a scroll ground surrounded by smaller roundels and scroll borders, the lid with pseudo calligraphic bands with stylised human-head terminals, the lock and hinges with foliate mounts, later bird finial mount to lid
