Description

Condition

One - Lid - three corner risers (corners) have cracks along the corner (approx 2in) and interior has some minor dents. The body has slight lacquer rubbing but good condition. Base - one has a vertical crack to the riser along the corner. The other - Lid top surface has a few minor scratches and minor dents, three risers have cracks along the corner. Body - two risers have cracks along the corner (about 4in each to the body) and two chips to the edges of the riser) , otherwise the side is in good condition except for some rubbing. Base - three corners have cracks. One of the feet has an old crack. This lot will be offered without reserve.

The shell game "hokkai" was played with 360 double-valved shells (kai), half of the shells enclosed a poem, the other half a drawing which corresponded to it; the shells were distributed one by one and the goal was to match the poem with the drawing; whoever was left with an 'orphan' lost the game.
