Condition

Minor marks and rubbing to the frame consistent with age. Minor marks to the surface of plaster. Please note not inspected out of frame. Possibly restored and repainted in areas. This lot will be offered without reserve.

Catalogue Note

The above lot was cast from the relief commissioned by the Earl of Ellesmere which was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1836.

Sir Richard Westmacott studied under his father, Richard Westmacott the Elder before going to Rome to study with Canova.  He returned to England in 1797.
