In excellent overall condition; ormolu has been expertly cleaned; some replaced cut-glass elements are is customary with age and use.

Catalogue Note

This chandelier can be compared with examples which were made to Carlo Rossi's designs for Pavlovsk Palace by the German bronzier Ivan Dipner who did extensive work in the Imperial residences in Saint Petersburg.  A comparable example is illustrated, A. Kuchumov, Russian Decorative Art in the Collection of the Pavlovsk Palace Museum, 1981, Leningrad, p. 148, fig. 85.
