Condition
There are some tiny fox marks throughout the sheet and two small repaired tears: one right of center in the upper edge and the other in the center of the right edge. There are some minor soft folds, but the general condition of the drawing is good.

Catalogue Note
Jean-Baptiste Huet was the son of Nicolas Huet le vieux, and the nephew of Christophe Huet, both successful animal painters. He became the apprentice of Charles Dagomer, member of the Académie de St. Luc, and then became the student of Jean-Baptiste Leprince in 1764. During his time with Leprince he developed his skills as an engraver and collaborated with François Boucher. He was received at the Académie Royale in 1768. In 1790 he was associated with the manufactures of Jouy, the Gobelins and Beauvais.
