Condition

Very minor rubbing to the gilding. Very minor marks to the patinated bronze figures. The ormolu candelabra are slightly loose where they meet the hand of the patinated bronze figures, however these are stable. Minor chips to the marble. In otherwise good condition.

Catalogue Note

This pair of candelabra closely relates to a model commercialized by the Parisian bronzier Lucien Feuchère. A similar pair of this type was delivered by him in 1810 to the Palace of Compiègne for 3800 francs. Another comparable model was exhibited at the Paris Exposition d'art et d'industrie of 1819 and was engraved by Charles Normand, illustrated, Ottomeyer and Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, vol. I, Munich, 1986, p. 334, fig. 5.2.16 and p. 390, fig. 5.17.1.
