Description

  • height 31 1/4 in.; width 35 1/2 in.; depth 28 1/2 in.
  • 79 cm; 90 cm; 72 cm
with an associated Egyptian porphyry veneered rectangular top; with two labels: one inscribed with the Town Museum inventory No 2454; the other with a crown and the printed inscription Count Pratasov Bahmetev and handwritten inscription Ivan Laptev et Shmyrov (sic).

Condition

In excellent overall condition. The veneered porphyry top which is not original to the table, has a number of marginal age fissures and The veneered porphyry like all hardstone is not uniform in color and incorporates irregularities, with paler areas in places; gilding is stronger and slightly deeper than appears in catalogue photograph. Small crack to upper part of corner/edge of frieze; three of the corner rosettes are slightly loose; small losses to gilding.
