The candelabra are based upon the design by the architect Charles Percier as shown on a sketch he executed for the decoration of Josephine Bonaparte's apartment at St. Cloud (Ottomeyer, Pröschel et al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, Vol. I, p. 328).
