Condition

Some losses to the silver underlayer at the edge of the mirror plate on one. Partial silvering revealed on one. Mirror frames in overall good condition. Rubbing, marks and wear consistent with age and use. Marble tops with some staining and old repair. Console table with some wear consistent with use, and decoration refreshed in areas. Very minor chips to the edges, old minor marks and scratches consistent with age and use.

Catalogue Note

A watercolor of an interior depicts a very similar console and mirror of circa 1820 by C. J. Ljunggrens and is reproduced in Torsten Sylvén, Speglar, Spegelmarkare & Fabrikörer i Sverige 1650-1850, Stockholm, 2000, p. 55.
A very similar mirror is illustrated in Empire, Lahden Tuotepaino Oy, Lahti, 1994, p. 146, fig. 102. Another closely related mirror is reproduced in Håkan Groth, Neoclassicism in the North, London, 1990, p. 172.
