Catalogue Note

Aglae Masson was the music teacher of the duchesse de Nemours, the daughter-in-law of King Louis Philippe.

Grosclaude was born in Locle, Switzerland and entered the École des Beaux-Arts and became the pupil of Regnault. He was featured at the Paris Salon from 1827 to 1868 and earned medals in 1835, 1838 and 1845.
