Catalogue Note

A similar table with sphinx-carved mirror is preserved at Elghammar Castle outside Stockholm, and is illustrated, Håkan Groth, Neoclassicism in the North, London 1990, p. 172. Another is  reproduced Sigurd Wallin, Möbler från Svenska Herremanshem, vol. III, Stockholm, 1935, p. 170, fig. 1239.

A closely related mirror with similar decoration is illustrated, Empire, Lahden Tuotepaino Oy, Lahti, 1994, p. 146, fig. 102. Torsten Sylvén illustrates two similar consoles with mirrors signed Jonas Frisks in Speglar Spegelmarkare & Farbrikörer i Sverige 1650-1850, Stockholm, 2000, pp. 128 and 129.
