Condition

With very minor chips and scratches consistent with age, minor rubbing to the gilding and paint. In overall very good condition. This lot will be offered without reserve.

Catalogue Note

The present lot is inspired by a pair of larger carved, painted and gilt corazze illustrated, Alvar Gonzáles-Palacios, Fasto Romano: dipinti, sculture, arredi dai Palazzi di Roma, Rome, 1991, p. 218, n. 183-184, pl. XXXVII, fig. 1. The latter example derives from corazze in the Chiesa di Santa Maria della Vittoria which commemorate the Battle of Prague in 1620.
