Condition

Rubbing to the gilding, particularly to the decoration of the candle arms and the gadrooning to the capital of the standard with very minor chips to the bases and hairline cracks to the bases. Restorations to the base. This lot will be offered without reserve.

Catalogue Note

Ferdinand Barbédienne (1810-1892) was one of the pre-eminent bronziers of the Second Empire. His designs were greatly inspired by antique models, using and re-using various elements such as the animal motifs found on the bases of these candelabra.
