Barbara Gaehtgens, Adrian Van der Werff,  Germany, 1987, pp. 272-273, for the identification original painting by Adriaen Van der Werff (1659-1722), now in the Gemäldegalerie, Dresden.

Condition

In generally good overall condition. Some rubbing to the extreme edges of the plaque where it sat within a frame. Color is consistent with catalogue illustration. There are a few fine scratches to Hagar's leg, a 1 1/2 in. scratch across the lower right quadrant toward the signature, and a small scratch to Ishmael's left calf all of which are visible in the catalogue illustration.
