Description

  • A Marble Figure of Herakles
  • Height from modern base 28 in. 71.1 cm.
based on a Greek prototype of the 4th Century B.C., standing on a rectangular base against a tree-trunk support with his weight on the right leg, and holding his club in his left hand, the Nemean lion skin draped over his left forearm, the ends of his fillet falling over the shoulders.

Condition

good, surface somewhat worn, fifth toe on proper right foot broken off, big toe and 2nd toe on proper left foot restored, areas of restoration on back of proper left arm, neck drilled, minor chips and abrasions elsewhere
