Description

  • An Attic Black-figured Belly Amphora
  • Height 13 5/16 in. 33.8 cm.
painted on one side with four warriors in full armor facing left, each with a spear, and holding shields emblazoned with swan, ivy-leaf wreath, cock, and multiple boss devices, the other side decorated with three similar warriors holding shields with human leg, swan, and equine hindquarter devices, linked lotus buds above the scene, rays above the foot, the details in added red and white.
