  • Height with restored feet 8 in. 20.3 cm.
standing and holding the crook and flail, and wearing a false beard and atef-crown with ram's horns and uraeus in front, his face with eyes recessed for inlays and eyebrows and cosmetic lines in relief.

Condition

feet restored, surface somewhat worn overall and granular in back, tips of horns broken off, proper left plume slightly bent at top and bottom, tip of nose rubbed down, remains of an ancient metal (copper or bronze?) band at back of head

Catalogue Note

Larry Majewski was appointed chairman in 1966 of the Conservation Center, Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. After 1986 he continued to teach and advise students in his role as the Hagop Kevorkian Professor Emeritus of Conservation. Over the course of his long career he generously shared his knowledge with the public.
