According to Valerie Leeds, Sarah Burke, a young Irsih girl who often posed for Henri, modeled for the portrait of Coleen. Violet Organ, Robert Henri’s sister-in-law, writes: “Sarah was one of the shyest little girls on the Island [Achill]. She was the daughter of the butcher who brought meat up to the Henris every day in a basket lined with fresh cabbage leaves. Sarah wanted to be a nun later.”
