A Colima Seated Figure, Protoclassic, ca. 100 B.C.-A.D. 250

exhibiting his prominent status with the finely sculpted shell collar encircling his shoulder, the long arms with striped decoration and resolute face wrapped in a headband encircling the shamanic horn from the forehead; covered in deep reddish brown and black.

These proud seated figures wear the single horn as an insignia of power, secured by seemingly continuous headbands; see Furst in Townsend ed. (1998:180, and p. 177, fig. 17).
