carved of hippopotamus ivory (hippopotamus amphibious ), standing on two semi-circular feet, the human figure with tubular body, the rectangular arms held close to the trunk and a massive head with slit mouth, circular eyes, and one circular ear, and insized decoration on legs, body and back of head; fine varied reddish brown and creamy patina.
