La hampe à l'extrémité recourbée est sculptée de deux personnages superposés. Tandis que la maternité - allaitant son enfant - arbore une coiffe traditionnelle en haut chignon gaufré, le personnage masculin qui la surmonte est vêtu d'un costume à l'européenne - habit et casque colonial. Le personnage féminin porte une houe appuyée sur son épaule, sertie d'une lame en fer. Patine nuancée, brun rouge, claire sur les visages.
