Ce masque anthropo-zoomorphe exprime les canons de la beauté en pays Guro : visage étroit dont le profil dessine une longue ligne sinueuse se prolongeant dans les cornes recourbées l'une vers l'autre, la chevelure dessinant sur le front un motif tripartite, l'arête frontale s'étirant jusqu'à l'extrémité du nez anguleux, les lignes tendues vers la bouche ouverte aux dents ciselées, le menton disparaissant. La tension des lignes courbes est accentuée par les motifs arqués des scarifications. Très belle patine sombre, brillante, rehaussée de kaolin dans les creux de la gravure.

Very good condition overall. The tip of the right horn has been broken and repaired (glue). Superb deep patina of use at the back of the mask.
